If you know nothing about Jakarta, at the very least you must have heard about its traffic. In 2015, one of the articles from Jakarta Post gave its readers statistics on cities with the worst traffic in the world. Guess what? Jakarta is on top of the list!
We finally topped Bangkok or Mumbai who were on the top of the list for a few years back. This is clearly not something to be proud of, yet when you live in Jakarta, the worst is your everyday situation. Traffic jam has become a normal situation in our daily life. Sometimes we don’t even feel it. Or is it just me?
That was why HG and I ditched our transportation for a night of strolling around on foot in South Jakarta!
Jakarta is heated during the day and quite breezy during the night. I was on my Nike jacket while HG was on his Pull & Bear parka jacket. Coincidentally, I was all blue and white, HG was all black.
As a guy who doesn’t take much risk in fashion, I felt like obeying the 3 colors rule on that night. The rule is such an old school and very much easy to follow. Basically, the rule says you shouldn’t wear more than 3 colors on your whole body. This includes accessories as well. My colors for that night was blue, white and a little green on my snap-back’s cap. Since my white high top converse was still quite clean, I wanted to dirtied it a little more by wearing it on that night stroll. To follow the rule, I wore a white comfy T-Shirt from Papa Kilo.
HG was on his Nike Air Max which I so want to steal sometimes. Well, maybe most of the times. I was more into his black parka jacket from Pull & Bear. The funny story was, I wanted to buy the same jacket but too bad they only have HG’s size. Lucky son of a gun. For jeans, he was wearing his DIY black ripped jeans, which you can own yourself by reading through one of our blog post.
That night opened my thoughts to a lot of questions about our traffic situation.
“What would Jakarta be 10 years from now?”
“What did people do at red lights before cellphones?”
“Who are these people stuck in rush hour everyday?”
“What motivation do they have to push them in the traffic everyday?”
Of course those questions might never have its answers. Nevertheless, I definitely had my fun of taking photos that night.
